The sketch or watercolor treatment may help create a cohesive memorial portrait from an older image. However, the pet’s facial details must still be visible; an artistic effect cannot restore information missing from a very dark, pixelated or blurry photograph.

Can more than one pet appear on the candle?

A close-up photograph of one pet generally produces the clearest result. If you submit multiple pets, make sure every face is sharp, unobstructed and positioned close together.

Will the background from my photograph appear on the label?

The design primarily focuses on the pet. The photograph may be cropped or adapted to fit the selected portrait style and label composition.

For the clearest custom portrait:

• Upload a sharp, well-lit, high-resolution image.
• Choose a close-up photograph in which the pet’s face is clearly visible.
• Avoid blurry, dark or heavily filtered photos.
• Do not submit an image that cuts off important parts of the face or ears.
• Avoid Portrait Mode photographs if the pet’s outline appears artificially blurred.
• Photos taken with a recent smartphone generally work well when the subject is in focus.
